Source register

Every food composition database we currently ingest, with publisher, version, licence, and the date of the most recent refresh.

Each source is re-pulled at a stated cadence: CoFID annual; Swedish quarterly when feasible; Norwegian annual; Canadian on irregular publisher updates. Refresh runs are logged with row counts and rejection counts. The "Last refreshed" column below shows the most recent successful run on the production system.

CoFID 2021 UK Food Standards Agency / Public Health England Open Government Licence v3.0 2884 2026-05-29

Source-specific notes:

Legacy and curated tiers

McCance & Widdowson legacy. A small set of older McCance & Widdowson rows remained visible where CoFID 2021 had not yet superseded them. These have since been hidden and are earmarked for deletion; users see CoFID 2021 directly or one of the other promoted sources. The CoFID rows themselves are converted to EU 1169 conventions on the way in (see Protein and Carbohydrate).

Nibblr-curated. A small number of foods (UK retail-specific items, regional ingredients absent from any government source) are curated by Nibblr. Each curated row carries a "curated by Nibblr" attribution and is reviewed by a registered nutritionist before promotion.

Frida v5.5 (DTU, Denmark). Implemented in the ingestion layer but not yet promoted to production. We do not surface Frida values to users until the cross-source matching for Danish records has had a full nutritionist-led review.
